The technical scientific Committee of the Architecture House
Architect, critic, University Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Ascoli Piceno. Coordinator of the course "Villard". Since 1981 he gives his contribution to the cultural pages and additional issues of "The Manifest" and other newspapers, as well as to Italian and foreign architecture magazines. He is a member of the "Gomorra" directive committee and member of the publishing committee of the magazine "Casabella". Author of monographic works (Ludovico Quaroni, Peter Eisenman, Electa edition, and others) and non-fiction books (Young Italian Architects, Birkhauser edition, New Italian Architecture, Skirą edition, La Metropoli dopo, Meltemi edition, and others). Among his most recent works: the Molecular Biology Laboratory of Camerino and the enlargement of the Archaeological Museum of Ascoli Piceno.
Associated University Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Roma TRE. While active in the research and teaching at University he is also involved in the planning of urban and territorial parks, as well as in the planning of public spaces. For a long time his university activity combined with the professional career and with the activity he carried out in the Public Administration. He worked for the Municipality of Rome holding the position of consultant first and executive afterwards.
He has lead programs and plans finalized to the re-qualification of parks and urban public spaces, he also gave his contribution to re-launch the institution of the architecture competition.
A cultural, technical and administrative activity that demonstrate how national and international intellectual energies, university departments, institutes of culture can be involved in the phase of study and preparation of the architecture competitions. He is a member of the national directive A.N.C.S.A.
Piero Ostilio Rossi
Architect and University Professor of Architectural and Urban Composition at the Faculty of Architecture "Ludovico Quaroni" at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". He is author of the book Roma. "Guida all'architettura moderna" published in three different editions in the years 1984, 1991 and 2000.
He coordinated the group of study that has written up the work "Indagine sulla cittą contemporanea", a survey later included into the "Carta per la Qualitą" of the new Master Plan of Rome.
Architect, born in Rome in 1962, graduated in 1990, together with other partners she founded the t-studio. She has a contract as University Professor at the University of Ascoli Piceno, as well as at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Editor of the magazine "il Progetto", executive member of the IN/ARCH, she participated at the Biennale of Venice -Less Aesthetics more ethics 2000, she coordinated the Architecture Department at the Biennale of the Mediterranean 2001.
Member of the Organizer Committee for the Borromini Prize, coordinator of the cultural project "the Spring of the architecture", member of the scientific Committee of the Architecture House, and advisor of the architecture national prizes IN/Arch-Ance 2005.
Winner of numerous national and international competitions, among the others she won the Rome Architecture Prize 2002. Her projects have been published on national and foreign magazines and have been exhibited in several cities, among the others Praga, Bratislava, Paris, Stockholm and Graz.
Amedeo Schiattarella (President)
Architect. His most recent and significant works have been published on the major specialized magazines. Among the other projects worth a mention, the Library of the Valdese University in Rome, the Metropolitan Museum in Seoul, the restoration of the Gran Priorale Building in Venice and of Villa Durante in Rome, the restoration and consolidation of Palazzo Gentili and another building in via Ripetta, Rome. Since 1999 he hold the position of President of the Register of Architects of Rome and its Province, he is member of the Building Commission and member of the Urban Quality Control for Rome Municipality.

Professor of architectural and urban planning at the Faculty of Architecture at the Bari Polytechnic. His activity of research regards the roman modern architecture (between his published works: Tradizione e innovazione nell'architettura di Roma, Rome 1989; Atlante di architettura moderna a Roma e nel Lazio, Rome 1997) and the instruments for planning (Unitą dell'organismo architettonico, Bari 1995; La cittą come organismo, Bari 2004)
He is responsible of the project for the reorganization of piazza Mastai and of the new Laurentino Cemetery. He gives his contributions to the newspaper "Il Corriere della Sera".
Technical-scientific Committee Regulation
Clause 1. The Technical-scientific Committee
In execution of the Municipal Council Deliberation n. 100 dated 12.6.2003 and according to the clauses n. 3,4,5,6 of the following Deed of Arrangement between the Municipality of Rome and the Register of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservatives of Rome and its province (later indicated as "Association"), signed the 23.07.2003, a technical-scientific committee has been instituted. The "Committee" take care, indicate, program and evaluate the cultural activities of the Architecture House. The Architecture House has its head office in the monumental ancient complex of the Roman Aquarium, located in piazza Manfredo Fanti, the building hosting also the Association of Architects is a concession of the Rome Municipality, based on general terms indicated in the clause n. 3 of the Attachement A of the deliberation previously mentioned.
Seven members compose the Committee, they are appointed from the Mayor of Rome. Three of them are nominated directly from the Mayor himself, three are suggested from the Association of Architects and one is appointed from the Municipal Administration together with the Association of Architects and takes the position of President.
Committee members keep their position for three years and can be nominated again only once, not consecutively.
Clause 2. Committee Operational Methods (procedures)
The Committee activity is carried out through periodical meetings organized at the head office of the Architecture House.
The Committee can be convened from the President who gives communication of it at least 10 days in advance. In the communication the agenda needs to be enclosed.
The Committee decisions are expressed through the majority.
In case of equality, the vote express from the President prevails.

The Committee members have to participate to the meetings with regularity.
In addition to the person responsible for the communication of the Architecture House and the Administrator of the service company set up from the Association of architects, the people responsible of the institutional organization can participate to the meetings in quality of guests.
Clause 3. Tasks of the Committee
The Committee tasks are:
a. identify, program and coordinate the cultural activities of the Architecture House according to the clause n. 1 of the present Regulations;
b. annual check of the accomplished activities.
For the achievement of these tasks the Committee writes up programs and reports. These documents indicate methods and the time schedule as shown in the following articles.
Clause 4. Identification and selection of the activities.
The Committee prepares a triennial plan and every year, within the 30th of April, writes up an annual document to explain the purposes of the activities scheduled for the following year. The document is usually articulated in three parts concerning local, national and international activities.
- activities concerning plans and projects for urban and territorial transformation;
- activities concerning the profession of architect in its various aspects;
- activities concerning the study on the city architectural heritage;
- activities concerning the introduction of innovative university studies and the connection with the job market;
- activities concerning the knowledge of works and participations, protagonists of the international panorama;
- activities concerning the organization of big international events programmed in collaboration with Italian and foreign institutions.
Clause 5. Programming the activities
The documents referred to the clause n. 4 are subordinated to the Association Council, sent to the Mayor and subsequently widespread from the Architecture House, the Rome Municipality and the Association of Architects to the public institutions and whoever interested through the instruments at their disposal and depending upon their request and interest to submit proposals of activity that can take place within the head office of the Architecture House.
The proposals must be sent within the 15th of September, adequate to the annual programme (or to the triennial plan if referred to the following years) and indicate purposes, costs, financial means at disposal, time execution, names of the advisors, executive plans of the designed activity.
The Committee or its single members can propose further initiatives, also as integration of external proposals.
The Committee, evaluates the correspondence between the proposed initiatives in accordance with the institutional aims of the Architecture House and the possibility to obtain the necessary financial means, after the approval of the Director of the service company, at this point a programme of the activities can be elaborated for the following year, within the 30th of September, and proposed to the Association Council for the definitive approval.
Clause 6. Advisor for the international activities
The Committee has the faculty to propose one or more trustee and the Association Council approves those who will assume the role of "experts of clear reputation" for the activities of international relevance.
Tasks, time of the assignment, remuneration for the advisors, will be calculated from time to time and will become effective through an appropriate resolution act of the Association Council upon proposal of the Committee.
Clause 7. Verification of the performed activities
The Committee relates the performed activities of the Mayor and the Association Council within the 30th of March of the following year to the object of the program.
